Each notebook or desktop or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that interacts with the computer hardware, including peripheral devices such as a mouse or a printer, and any apps that are currently installed on the system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a web server, any app runs within the parameters defined by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This goes for both standard site scripts and server-side software such as a media server. In case a virtual server is generated on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, so you will be able to set up a different software environment on the very same machine.
Multiple OS in VPS Servers
We offer three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the most stable and reliable OSs you can get and we supply all three of them instead of just one because we realize that you may want to install some software with specific requirements for the Operating System it shall run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a vast support community behind it and there are various software programs you can install on the server. Your OS selection will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS in case you wish to use one and for that reason we offer several Control Panels as well. If you ever decide that you want another OS, our tech support team can quickly wipe the present one and install the one that you would like. In addition, we offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers
The dedicated servers that we offer can be set up with as many as three different Operating Systems as we want to offer you more versatile solutions that will let you install and run any type of web software irrespective of its system requirements. Your options are CentOS, Debian and Ubuntu and these 3 OSs are some of the most dependable and risk-free ones, not mentioning that they do not have any kind of license costs. All three have a large number of developers that have created numerous software packages that you can install and use on your hosting server. We also offer three hosting Control Panels and which one you can use depends on the Operating System that you choose when you sign up. If you need another OS subsequently, it will not be a problem as we can always reinstall your server. With our Managed Services package we can also keep your OS secure by upgrading it on a weekly basis with any patches that are released for it.
